南五味子(學名 Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill. var. grossulariacea (Wall.) Rehder,為木蘭科五味子屬攀援灌木的乾燥果實)又稱南酸棗、南實子、南五味子果。常見種類有廣東南五味子與雲南南五味子,前者果實較大、味酸甘,藥效較佳;後者較小,多用於食品調味或民間藥用。

五行顏色主要對照:紅色,應火。

性味歸經:性溫,味酸、甘,入肺、腎、心經。

功效與應用:南五味子具有收斂固澀、滋補肺腎、益氣生津、安神定志的功效。主治自汗盜汗、咳嗽氣喘、遺精早泄、心悸失眠、口渴津傷等症。常用於固表止汗方、補腎益肺湯劑,可與黃芪、熟地、麥冬同用;亦可入安神方,與酸棗仁、遠志配伍。民間亦將果實入茶或泡酒,有助於養肺補腎、增強體力。
